Most members can return to work without it affecting their pension.
However, if you return to work for an employer who participates in the Local Government Pension Scheme, any pension you receive in respect of Compensatory Added Years (CAY) may be reduced or suspended.
This only affects members who retired on the grounds of redundancy or efficiency and received Compensatory Added Years. All other members can return to work, for any employer, without it affecting their pension.
The regulations around this area are very complex, so if you are returning to work with Compensatory Added Years please contact us so we can tell you if your pension will be affected.
